FOR NJAS JUDGES

     DEADLINE  to submit Judge Registration - March 1,  2025 

The 70TH NJAS annual meeting will be celebrated in person  this year 2025.  We will need the assistance of our elite scientific community around the state of New Jersey to serve as judges at our event. It is our hope we can count on you to help evaluate the amazing work of our participants. High school students compete in the Junior Division and College, Master’s & Doctoral level students in the Senior Division.  Awards are given for outstanding research presentations at each level. Science & Math & Technology professionals are asked to volunteer as judges in any of the following fields: 


Environmental Science / Ecology

Cell or Molecular Biology

Health / Medicine

Chemistry / Biochemistry

Physics / Engineering

Mathematics/Computational Science

Psychology / Animal Behavior

Microbiology

Botany

Marine Science

Science or Math Education

Earth Science / Geology / Meteorology

Topical Reviews


This year's NJAS Judging Process and Due dates:

  1. Interested judges must fill the form to volunteer as a NJAS judge by March 1, 2025, or as soon as possible.  Judges may choose to judge the Junior Academy (high school) projects, the Senior Academy projects, or both. 

  2. Judges will be informed of their category and how many presentations they will review by April 25, 2025.  Typically, judges are asked to review 6-8 projects. Judges will be able to review the abstracts ahead of time.

  3. Judges will evaluate final presentations at the in-person event on May 10, 2025 through conversation with the future STEM innovators. Judges expected contribution of their time should be from 8:00 am to no later than 3 pm (Depending on their judging level and schedule). Judges are welcome to stay to the end of the event. Judges will receive a complimentary registration, breakfast and lunch.


NJAS Judges Guidelines:

  1. Judges must follow the rubric and give final score per presentation to Junior or Senior Academy Director in a timely fashion on 5/10/25 (however before 2pm). 
  2. Judges may be asked to select top 3 winners in their judging category section.
  3. Judges will communicate with presenters during the presentations.
