69TH NJAS Annual Meeting
The NJAS executive board cordially invites you to join us in celebrating and fortifying the ongoing projects and collaborations among science, policy, and communication. Our aim is to bolster the infusion of scientific and technical expertise into public discourse and collaborations.
During this event, we will emphasize the significance of innovation, resilience, and addressing health disparities challenges, while also marveling at the collective potential within our community to shape a brighter future for New Jersey.
This occasion serves as an academic reunion for scholars, corporate professionals, and students alike. Planned activities include keynote addresses, scientific sessions featuring both junior and senior academy members, workshop sessions, and a STEM showcase.
We eagerly anticipate your participation in this enriching and collaborative event.
Scientific Sessions: Junior Academy
The purpose of this session is to foster an interest in and engagement with science among high school students and teachers. It is open to students from public, private, and home schools alike.
During these sessions, students will present their research projects covering a wide range of topics, including Environmental Science/Ecology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Health/Medicine, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics/Computational Science, Psychology/Animal Behavior, Microbiology, Plant Science, Marine & Aquatic Science, Animal Science, and Earth Science/Geology/Meteorology. The poster presentation session will span two hours, during which judges will evaluate the posters in a timely manner. First and second place winners will receive invitations to attend the 2025 National "American Junior Academy of Science" event.
Scientific Sessions: Senior Academy
Science and technology experts convene in small, multi-disciplinary panels to delve into research that propels our current understanding across diverse scientific disciplines. Topics encompass Environmental Science/Ecology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Health/Medicine, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics/Computational Science, Psychology/Animal Behavior, Microbiology, Plant Science, Marine & Aquatic Science, Animal Science, and Earth Science/Geology/Meteorology.
Each 60-minute session features speakers within each category delivering 10-minute presentations, followed by engaging audience questions and comments.
Participants presenting at this event will have the opportunity to have their research abstract published in the NJAS journal "The Bulletin"; serve as NJ Academy of Science delegate at the 2025 "American Association for the Advancement of Science" at the senior academy level; and allow participants to add this experience to their resumes.
Professional Development Seminar Sessions:
The seminars are cater to individuals aspiring for careers in science and engineering. They are designed to be instructional and interactive, offering a markedly different experience from a traditional scientific session. Each seminar may feature up to three presenters and will run for a duration of 60 minutes.
