 66th NJAS Virtual Annual Meeting

The health, safety and well-being of our attendees, faculty, speakers, exhibitors and staff is of paramount importance. After careful consideration of the continuous ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in New Jersey, the executive members of the Academy of Science of NJ have decided to conduct the 66th Annual meeting this year in a virtual manner.

The NJ Academy of Science has decided to host a virtual live scientific meeting for both the Junior (High School students) and Senior Academy (undergraduate and graduate students) as the alternative solution.  This year participants will submit their work in two phases: All scientific abstracts should be submitted by April 4th, 2021. Scientific video presentations submission will be due  by April 24th, all videos must be uploaded to your YouTube page with the following settings: “unlisted: and “comments are disabled” (See below for more information). Completion of registration requires the submission of the following items: participant scientific abstract, scientific video presentation, NJAS registration, photo release form signed, and headshot picture of the participant. The conference will culminate with a virtual meeting on May 15th with live presentations and an award ceremony.

The 66th NJ Academy of Science (NJAS) Annual Meeting keynote speaker will be Dr. Sulie Chang, President of the Society on NeuroImmune Pharmacology (SNIP) and Professor of Biology at Seton Hall University. Her talk will be titled, "Network Meta‐analysis on the Mechanisms Underlying Alcohol Augmentation of COVID‐19 Pathologies". The keynote presentation will be followed by live presentations, the Award Ceremony, NJAS members elections and the Presidential closing remark. This event is a collegial meeting of New Jersey scientists, science faculty members, and students from institutions across the state. We hope you are planning to join in this opportunity to share your research, discover new possibilities and interact with fellow attendees.

The NJ Academy of Science 66th Virtual Annual Meeting will give students the opportunity to have their research abstract published; to compete at the 2022 nationals "American Junior Academy of Science" (junior academy level) or served as NJ Academy of Science delegate at the 2022 "American Association for the Advancement of Science" at the senior academy level; and allow participants to add this experience into their resumes. The NJAS board members regretted limiting the scientific presentations in a virtual manner; however, given our current health limitations, we did not want to deprive participants of the option of showcasing their scientific contribution.

We ask for your patience as we work diligently to address questions and provide additional information to our planned participants and guests. Please email any questions to njacademyofscience@gmail.com. Winners will be notified on May 15th during the award ceremony.
